When you consider figures whose works and ideas were prevalent during those early years of black studies in the late 1960s and figures who still carry favor in black poetry, then Amiri Baraka comes to mind.
Here, we present him in the act of reading...no performing one of his serious jokes--poems he calls "low-coup." This one is entitled "In the Funk World."
